About the course

When computer programmers are first learning a new programming language, they often write a simple program called “Hello, World!” This tradition can be traced back to the early 1970s when Brian Kernhigan was asked to write documentation for a language called B. One of the examples in this documentation was code for a program that printed “hello, world” to the screen. This program is easy enough to adapt to nearly any programming language. Writing a version of “Hello, World!” in an unfamiliar language gives the programmer confidence that the development environment is properly set up and that the programmer understands the most basic fundamentals of the new language.

In this course, you will write your own version of “Hello, World!” in several different programming languages and technologies.
